Please watch "UDTA PUNJAB" first, then blame us : Shahid Kapoor - Anurag Kashyap

The team of Udta Punjab Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl, Madhu Mantena, Ekta Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Diljit Dosanjh and director Abhishek Chaubey came together to thank everyone who supported the film and to celebrate their victory against the board of certification. Udta Punjab has been much in demand over the rift between the board of certification and the makers of the film over the cuts that were given. The film has been passed with only one cut.

When Anurag said if he wants Pahlaj Nihlani to be sacked he said, "We do have a humongous problem with Mr Nihalani, but even if he is removed, who will come in his place? It is the system that needs an overhaul. No doubt, the Cinematograph Act of 1952 is stale and needs a relook. But both Gangs of Wasseypur and Dev D were released under those same guidelines. I fought for Black Friday too. But that felt like a fair fight. This (Udta Punjab) didn't. This time, it was the world that was telling us your film is banned, there are so many cuts."

When asked if at this time any political party lended him support or made calls to him, he said, "When the issue started, no one from Balaji or Phantom was talking to the media, because we just wanted to get our film released. But there were all these stories about 'so many cuts' etc, and we don't know where they were coming from. I did get some calls (from some political parties), but I very vehemently and clearly told them to stay out of it, and that's when I had gone and put out the tweet to ask everyone to stay out of it."

Madhu Mantena, Ekta Kapoor and Vikas Bahl also expressed gratitude that the film received this kind of support and it wouldn't have been this kind a victory without everyone's support.

Shahid Kapoor requested everyone to start calling the board as board of certification and not the censor board. He also said, "We have to stop judging a film after seeing a one-minute promo. Watch the film first. The purpose of our film is humane. So please view the film and then we will be happy to answer what ever you have to ask."
