M S Dhoni The untold story

Releasing On : Friday, September 30 2016
Director(s) : Neeraj Pandey
Genre : Biography

Story : Born to a poor family in a small town like Ranchi, Mahendra Singh Dhoni who loves playing cricket dreams big of playing for the Indian Cricket Team one day. While many other players were playing domestic cricket for the Indian Cricket team, fine player like Dhoni was working as a TT with the Railways with his life heading nowhere specific. In frustation the protagonist of the film, Dhoni leaves his job and gets back to playing what his heart always desired of when one fine day he is selected for the Indian cricket team and he finally makes way to his calling. Along the way of his life he comes across Sakshi in a Kolkata hotel, the two fall in love and head for marriage. All know what happens later in his career and about the historial World Cup win of India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
All's well but a thought strikes one's head is whether the movie can really boast of a biopic or would rather call it a filmy story based on events. Apparently MS Dhoni also has a real brother who is to be seen nowhere in the movie. Fine that the two brothers have locked horns later in their lives but as kids must have been brought up together.
Sakshi's story too doesnt seem real and there is completely no mention of Dhoni's ex girlfriends like actresses Deepika Padukone and Laxmi Raai. The story is woven in such a way that it somehow suggests that Dhoni is not human but was born as an angel and is evidently shown that way.
Screenplay : Weak
Dialogues and Music : Winsome
Action : Sans any action
Editing : Major worry and hiccup of the film
Direction : by Neeraj Pandey is just about average. His USP being thriller, this certainly isnt his kind of a movie. No doubt Neeraj toiled hard to make the film but the fact remains unchanged that the audience looks for the outcome and final product of the film and not the hard work.
Acting : Sushant Singh Rajput stood out with his supernal acting as MS Dhoni. He has worked real hard to look his character and definitely leaves a mark in every scene he has performed. Full 5 on 5 marks to Rajput for his remarkable acting.
Kiara Advani who essayed the role of Sakshi not only looked very pretty but her acting too is arresting. She assuredly comes out as promising actress to watch out for.
Disha Patani too played her role well. Anupam Kher as Dhoni's father has done a smashing and fantabulous job.
Negatives Of The Film : This lengthy 3 hour 5 minutes biopic talks about Dhoni's story for an hour and the next two hours are just cricket. Well the million dollar question still prevails whether the audience will like to see the already seen matches once again?
Like Azharuddin, Dhoni too is one of the producers of his own biopic and has refrained from showing even a single short-coming of his own and making one wonder if he is a seraph or an angel.
Another drawback of the film remains the fact that in general the women folk arent really cricket buffs so chances of them and kids missing on the movie stays high. Film is a good two hour tour in the life of Dhoni but the one extra hour acts as a damp squib for the audience and thus ends up making the film sluggish.
Positives Of The Film : Film brags of good, cathchy music
While Disha's love story is quite emotional, Sakshi's love story is couthy and beautiful.
Protagonist Dhoni's struggle in Ranchi is way too inspiring and emotional
Final verdict : A clean film, this film can be enjoyed with the whole family
