Intro- Directed by Amit Roy, Runningshaadi.com is a romantic comedy produced by Shoojit Sircar. The film deals with the unique concept of helping people run away with the love of their life to get married. The film which stars Amit Sadh, Taapsee Pannu and Arsh Bajwa in lead roles is scheduled to have a theatrical release on February 17, 2017.
Music- The music of a Soojit Sircar film is usually unconventional and has always received commercial success. Interestingly, the music of Running shaadi.com has been created by an assembled team of music composers like Anupam Roy, Abhishek-Akshay & Zeb. The jukebox is out and here’s the review.
Pyar Ka Test-The album begins with an 80’s style song ‘Pyar Ka Test’ sung by disco king Bappi Lahiri along with Kalpana Patowary. A celebratory number, the song has a unique flavor of desi disco. More than a soulful song, this is a fun number.
Mannerless Majnu-Similar to Idiot Banna in Dangal, Running Shaadi.com also has a light hearted song Mannerless Majnu. Sukanya Purkayastha, who had sung the female version of 'Paani Da Rang' [Vicky Donor], has given a different rendition to 'Mannerless Majnu' . Though a decent number, but this song also falls in the category of situational track.
Dimpi De Naal Bhaage Bunty-This song has a good pace, fun lyrics and a good singing. Sung by late Labh Janjua, the song is peppy and may enjoy a good shelf life.
Bhaag Milky Bhaag-Sung by Sanam Puri and Sonu Kakkar, the song sounds lifeless in the way it is composed, written and sung. Strictly average, the music is highly situational and sounds more like a background score.
Faraar-Singer Jubin Nautiyal goes solo for this number. A soft rock number, the song may soon become a clear favourite for a road trip. However, Faraar is an interesting composition.
Mein Faraar Sa- Coincidentally, there’s another song with the buzzword ‘Faraar’ in the album. Rendered by Anupam Roy along with Hamsika Iyer,’ Mein Faraar Sa’ is a situational track and a continuation of the earlier heard ‘Faraar’ song.
Kuch to Hai-Kuch to Hai, sung by Jubin Nautiyal belongs to the pop genre. The song is a decent hear but doesn’t offer much to recollect. Composed by Anjana Ankur Singh and Sandeep Madhavan, Kuch To Hai is highly situational and a pleasant rendition.
Final Verdict- Unfortunately, though Running Shaadi.com features more than half a dozen songs, but the songs don’t have a recall value. However, the album offers us a mix of Punjabi favour and western soft numbers. Going by the storyline of the film, the soundtracks are situational and definitely go with the narrative of the film.
