After the lockdown amid Covid-19, films suffered a setback and a few weeks ago things turned brighter and many films were looking for release in cinemas. Now the same cant be said as the current state is different as exhibitors are perplexed because the big films that were to release like Jersey, RRR, Radhe Shyam and Prithviraj their release dates have been postponed.
While the covid scene may push government to close the theatres, another reason that may lead to the same can be lack of content in the coming weeks. As of now Pushpa, Spiderman : No Way Home are getting decent audience along with '83.
But the closing of cinemas over lack of content has made way too. Mumbai's Gaiety cinema in G7 multiplex is temporarily closed. It was having 4 shows of '83 along with Gossip but now things have changed and only Gossip in its 100 seater is showing the movie. Talking on it, executive director of G7 Multiplex and Maratha Mandir Cinema, Manoj Desai said if they dont get content, 'we'll start shutting our theatres.' He added Jersey, Radhe Shyam, RRR and Prithviraj have been postponed and till how long can these holdover movies be played.
