A police complaint has been filed by a Pune businessman against the owner of SFL Fitness Pvt Ltd and four others including Shilpa Shetty, her husband Raj Kundra for duping him to the tunes of Rs 1.59 crore after offering to open a fitness centre in Pune.
Nitin Barai on Saturday filed complaint, after around 7 years of signing the deal. This was after he realised that the party had duped him and failed to return his invested money. He had signed the agreement and had invested to get the franchise. His son Yash claimed that when they demanded their money back, they were threatened.
The cops have registered FIR against SFL Fitness director Kashiff Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, Darshit Shah and others who were witness in the contract that was signed in 2014.
Under the IPC sections 420, 120-B, 506 and 34, a case was registered.
Shilpa, reacting on the case, shared that she was shocked to know about the FIR against her and Kundra. She said her name has been dragged to grab eyeballs.
added, "To set the record straight. SFL Fitness. A venture run by Kashiff Khan. He had taken naming rights of brand SFL Fitness gyms around the country. All deals were struck by him and he was signatory in banking and day-to-day affairs. We are not aware of any of his transactions nor have we received a single rupree from him for the same. All the franchisee's dealt directly with Kashiff. The company closed in 2014 and was entirely handled by Kashiff Khan."
